April O'neil

 A list of various headcanons I have for April. Some being from canon that were also expanded upon.

Sports- April is very active. It shows in her usual activities and day to day with the boys. It's been shown that she plays basketball, while being rather good at it (Having to be a part of a team with Leo and the other turtles to win against a mystic demon basketball team). Since she had no trouble in shooting a 3-pointer from half court.

With her preferred weapon of choice with a baseball bat, April definitely has more than proper accuracy when striking in battle. So, it's more than safe to assume she's experienced in playing baseball.

Ninjutsu- Though a brawler, she has refined her skills and gotten more polished training from Splinter to better in defending herself, as well as being on the offense that's not just including swinging hard and bashing baddies. The Hamato clan is known for their speed, thus she is able to keep up a lot better in battle with the boys. Some other skills from Karai, even as she passed on, rubbed off on her as well. Including ninpo powers.

Sign Language-  Only so often she gets to use this with another. She started learning around the age of 9 while also using it to communicate with a close friend.

Insecurities- Even if it doesn't look like it for all the no shit taking attitude and confidence she shows, April gets pretty down on herself. Especially in her failures to where she doesn't believe she can go anything right. Things never going her way in the least or a string of bad luck to where she thinks she's cursed (Example of this is when she mentions how her birthday's are always a disaster and doesn't think they should be celebrated).

Much as she gets along with the turtles and is pretty friendly when approached, she is a bit of a outcast at school. Not really having any friends, since she refers to anyone she knows from school as a acquaintances. Not surprising to her if people viewed her as a little weird when getting into strange situations, plus she use to be bullied quite often years ago, so she just keeps to herself for the most part.

Personality

If there's ever been a ride or die it'd be April. Considering she usually goes with the flow with whatever chaotic mayhem around her and that includes the shenanigans of her surrogate brothers at times. Often involving herself whether it's her business or not if she can help in any way. Ignoring that she's human and didn't have any powers (at the time), but best believe she's always up to bat for her family and friends. Maybe it just goes hand in hand in being a native New Yorker?

She's got nothing but sass and bad puns.(Probably Leo's fault) Deal with it.

Charging into things at times could be shown as 'brave' if not fool hardy without knowing the full situation. Doesn't stop her from being adventurous and enjoying the fiasco that unfolds around her. Where others might be terrified? She's having the time of her life with the rush of adrenaline. Though she isn't fool hardy to blindly go in ALL the time.

April can come off as passive aggressive when annoyed (this shows in readily choosing to brandish her baseball bat to knock some heads. Most of the time it's her knuckle headed turtle friends or getting discouraged in multiple failed attempts at something. Still, she can push and motivate herself to keep going until successful. Never having a problem in asking or leaning on others for help that has her back.

In turn, April more than willingly helps others and is quite forgiving believing in second chances or at least open to it if the ones she trust most are more than open to giving them the chance. Though don't think for a moment she won't go to aggressive mama bear, big sister mode if one is giving her family trouble.

Abilities

• Though shown to be capable with her own (rather erratic) fighting style, April has been trained in the art of Ninjitusu from Master Splinter to be better equipped in defending herself that and some of Karai's skills have also rubbed off on her in the time that her spirit inhabited her body.
• Baseball bat is usually her first choice (though she'll more than improvise in her environment) in weapon, which is now infused with Mystic energy which she can manipulate. Magnified behind her strikes when activated.
• Accuracy. Maybe it has something to due with her skill in baseball, but April has very good precision in her hits and throwing very rarely missing even at a long distance.
• Hamato Ninpō: As a member of the Hamato Clan, April is capable of tapping into her clan's energy to unleash her own mystic might.
• Seven Deadly Vipers: Labeled as a "secret secret" by Splinter, the Seven Deadly Vipers move immediately makes opponents yield upon merely hearing its name. April is the only person other than Splinter who knows how to use it.
• Lazy Llama: A blocking technique where April moves her arms loosely and wildly to defend a wide area of her body against attacks. (sounds more like flailing)
• Tiger Claw: A technique where April tackles her opponent in a manner reminiscent of a pouncing tiger.
• Video editing: April has knowledge and skill in video editing. This is shown when she filmed and interviewed the Turtles for the sixth annual Lair Olympics.
